This week’s newsletter is organized a little differently to help you find ways to fill the days during spring break. First I have all the recurring, every-day activities, and below that you’ll find the single-day activities and events happening this week.

Spring Break Daily Activities
🎵 Parent Child Ukulele Workshop
11:30am & 1pm • Ages 5-9 • Register
📍High Desert Music Hall (818 SW Forest Ave, Redmond)
A four-day ukulele workshop for parents and kids taught by Marc of Don’t Fret!, featuring musical games, rhythm-building, and simple chords in a low-pressure, fun environment. Instruments provided. Two class times available, no class Wedesnday.
❄️ Snowshoe with a Ranger
10am & 1pm • Ages 8+ • Register
📍Mt Bachelor Ranger Station
This is the last week of Discover Your Northwest’s “Snowshoe with a Ranger” program, and they are hosting two hikes each day through Friday. During this 1½ mile snowshoe hike, rangers will talk about the geology and biology of the area as well as snowshoeing tips (no prior experience is necessary). It’s $10 and snowshoes are included.

In addition to the indoor exhibits, animals, and outdoor play area, the High Desert Museum has two special events this week:
Sky Hunters: See one of the HDM resident raptors take flight (indoors!) during this program. Buy your tickets in advance. Daily, 11am & 1:30pm. More info
High Desert Ranch & Sawmill: An interactive history experience exploring how people lived and supported themselves in the High Desert. Tues-Fri, 10am-12pm & 1pm-3pm.

The Big Play Thing will be open daily from 9am-1pm for kids to climb, slide, and explore on their 7,000 sq ft play structure.
🤸 Mountain Air Open Jump

Ages 0-5 are welcome from 9am-10am for a toddler-only jump session, and big kids are invited to join the fun from 10am-6pm. Every day will have an extra fun feature like Zorb Balls, a race track, or giant slides!

Toddler open play will be from 9am-12pm for kids ages 10 months - 5 years. From 12pm-4:30pm, kids of all ages are welcome to climb, tackle the ninja obstacles course, and get their wiggles out!

A lively story time packed with stories, songs, and rhymes to get preschool-aged kids excited about reading and build early literacy skills.
🎲 Dungeons & Kittens

📍Redmond Library (827 SW Deschutes Ave, Redmond)
Join a fantastical, medieval adventure where cats and animals rule and "meowgic” and nature shape the world. If your 8-10 year old is interested in storytelling and roleplaying games like D&D, this is a great (gentler) introduction.
🧘 Kid’s Yoga

📍Namaspa Yoga Community (1135 NW Galveston Ave.)
This interactive kids yoga class helps kids connect to their body and mind, and runs at the same time as the adult’s Vin/Yin class, so you can get some time on the mat, too.

Teens roll up their sleeves to help NeighborImpact's Mobile Pantry hit the road, joining a truck washing and loading party to prepare food donations for delivery.

Kids take a visual tour of the solar system with Worthy Garden Club and Cascade Astronomy and Rocketry Academy, then assemble and paint their own solar system model to take home!

An instructor-guided welding workshop where kids learn to safely cut and weld steel, exploring basic techniques and tool handling while creating their own metal piece to take home. All experience levels welcome.

Teen Crooked River Native Plant Stewardship Project w/ Think Wild & Camp Fire

Teens join Think Wild for a hands-on stewardship day, removing invasive plants, supporting native wildflower and shrub growth, and learning about local habitat restoration.

Teens learn the basics of needle felting in this hands-on workshop, creating their own three-dimensional mushroom to take home as an ornament, mini habitat display, or decoration. No experience needed!

A parent-child cooking class celebrating spring with locally sourced seasonal ingredients, where kids learn how a featured vegetable or fruit is grown and cook up a recipe that highlights its flavor!

The whole family has knowledge to contribute at this Disney-themed family trivia night featuring questions about old-school classics to the movies your kids have memorized. Costumes, Mickey ears, and Disney swag are encouraged!

Bring the family for a free night of stargazing at the Worthy Hopservatory and beer garden, with multiple telescopes and the folks from Cascade Astronomy and Rocketry Academy on hand. Weather dependent–make sure you double check on the day-of!
